Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever has been around since the 19th Century, but hadn’t been associated with Arizona until very recently.

A new study teamed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with the Indian Health Service on how Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever has become an epidemic among the state’s tribes.

Naomi Drexler is a CDC epidemiologist and one of the study’s authors. She explains why the study came about.
