Voters rejected a Nadaburg Unified School District override Tuesday night. The district services 970 students in a rural West Valley town.

Two-thirds of the votes were against the increase. The override would have generated over $3.5 million for the district over the next seven years.

Nadaburg Superintendent Rick Stephen said the money would have helped upgrade outdated technology and school buses.

“We have many items that are in need of repair or replacement and we’re just having to take care of them with a bandaid approach, and that’s going to become a serious problem in the future,” Stephen said.

Stephen said half of their buses have almost reached their mileage limit and they may have to cut back on dirt road routes.

This is the fourth year in a row voters have rejected a Nadaburg School District override.
