Why Your Wood-Fired Pizza May Contribute To Arizona's Air Pollution

One upshot of all the rain the Valley’s been getting is that it’s good for the region’s air quality. That, however, is not the case in a town outside Naples, Italy. There, the mayor has banned the use of wood-fired ovens in pizzerias and other eateries unless they install pollution-reducing filters.

As the Valley becomes more of a pizza haven, a wood-fired pizza haven at that, how much does that impact our air quality? Dr. Ronald Pope, atmospheric scientist with the Maricopa County Air Quality Department spoke about the impact.
