The Granite Gardens Trail is a very popular hiking route in Prescott.

This is the time of year lots of Arizonans love to get outside and hit the hiking trails. That also means some of the roads leading up to them can take a beating.

Prescott Recreation Services officials are working to improve conditions on the road to the Granite Gardens Trail, which is a very popular hiking spot.

The Granite Gardens Trail is known for its eye-catching rock formations, which leads many people down the dirt road to the trailhead. As the weather fluctuates, so do the road conditions.

Sometimes that dirt can turn into a large mud puddle, which means that people wind up parking randomly near the trailhead.

The Daily Courier in Prescott reported Prescott Recreation Services trucked in about 400 tons of surplus crushed-concrete to raise up the area and prevent runoff water from creating unsafe conditions.
