As more and more states decriminalize marijuana possession and legalize its use, many adults across the country now have the ability to use marijuana freely — but how is this trend affecting our youth and young adults?

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, daily marijuana use among 12th graders has remained stable in recent years at around 6 percent. A third of high school seniors have tried marijuana in the past year.

For teens who use marijuana daily or even weekly, the consequences could be serious. Dustin Pardini, a professor at the ASU criminology department, talked about the effects of chronic marijuana use on the teenage brain.
