Marijuana leaves.

The Arizona Secretary of State’s office has published the pro and con arguments for the ballot measures voters will decide this November and, even though it’s the subject of a pending lawsuit, that includes the Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act.

We’ll bring you two arguments today, one in favor and one against, starting with Sarah Mayhew. She’s a public defender for the Pima County Public Defenders’ Office, and a member of the Arizona Association for Criminal Justice. She wrote in favor of the measure.

Ed Gogek does not support the Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act . He’s an addiction psychiatrist and consults with substance abuse treatment programs. He’s also written a book outlining the case against legalizing marijuana.
