If you’re a registered independent on the Permanent Early Voting List, you may be wondering where your early ballot is— 14 percent of independents on the list received ballots this week.

Maricopa County Elections Department Communications Manager Elizabeth Bartholomew said this is because the remainder didn’t designate a party by returning a postcard to the department.

“If they did not send that postcard back to us or contact our office in any other way, then we will not be sending them an early ballot simply because we don’t know which early ballot that independent wants,” Bartholomew said.

Bartholomew said these people can still go to any of the polling places open now. Even if you’re not on the Permanent Early Voting List, you can stop by and cast your ballot in person.
