Several wildfires are burning around the state, including the Encino Fire, which started late Tuesday night. There have been hundreds of wildfires, and most of them have been human caused.

Authorities still don’t know what caused the Encino Fire. What they do know is that a storm cell passed through the area the night it started, so lightning is a very real possibility.

But for the most part, Mother Nature isn’t to blame for most wildfires. Tiffany Davila is with the Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

"Out of those 959 wildfires we’ve had this year, 878 have been started by humans," she says.

Year to date, Davila says 145,000 acres have been burned. She says nationwide almost nine out of 10 wildfires are human caused.
