Tempe wants to hear from art entrepreneurs. The city launched an online survey in hopes of helping artists grow their careers.

The survey asks people how much interest they have in learning about contracts and copyrights, finding donors and grants, showing work in galleries and selling work at festivals.

We want to make sure that when we’re developing our business community, or supporting them, that we’re very inclusive and artists and creatives are a part of Tempe, so that’s very important for us to acknowledge and support them,” said Jill Bushbacher with the city’s economic development department.

Supporting artists, she said, is good for the city overall. “Perhaps their work contributes to the quality of life for our residents and visitors and other guests and it shows that art’s important to our community, Bushbacher said. It also could potentially impact our sales tax revenue.”

The survey will be open through Monday, July 24. Results will be posted this fall along with information about business workshops for artists.
