The Consumer Electronics Show, or better known CES, opened in Las Vegas Tuesday.

While major tech giants like Apple and Microsoft unveil their wares at their own shows, auto manufacturers from around the world still prefer to show off emerging tech trends at CES.

"There's a prototype from a Chinese company to introduce a semi-autonomous vehicle in 2019 for about $45,000," said Data Doctors' Ken Colburn.

Getting a sneak peek at the car he said it's targeted for young adults and ideal for worried parents.

"It's fully electric, Alexa enabled... [and] can see when you're distracted," Colburn said.

Along the Vegas strip, the city is on the cusp of launching the first fully automated driverless taxis and shuttles. Something Colburn said is not that far down the road for the Phoenix-Metro area.

"In Phoenix right now, there's actually a select group of people that can actually call a driverless car to take them from point A to point B," he said.

Between car manufacturers' sensors and city planners placing corresponding tech along roads and intersections, Colburn predicted fully human operated car sales will peak in the next five years.
