Widespread flu continues in Arizona with no sign of letting up, with over 14,000 cases already this season.

Cara Christ is director of the Arizona Department of Health Services.

“We are significantly elevated over previous seasonal flu seasons," she said. "It’s always hard to predict what influenza is going to do because in Arizona our highest months tend to be January, February and March."

Christ said monitoring flu activity will help determine whether the flu peaks then decreases or increases after it peaks.

She said it’s extremely important to get vaccinated.
