The tell-tale sign of a self-driving car is perhaps the big, 360-degree camera mounted to the roof, but soon it’ll be the absence of a person behind the steering wheel.

State regulators in California approved new rules on Monday that will allow driverless car testing with an empty driver’s seat for the first time in the state.

This is already happening in Arizona. Waymo has been putting its cars to the test here without a safety driver to take over if something goes wrong.

Now that California is loosening its restrictions. What does this mean for Arizona?
