Sen. John McCain continues to fight the effects of glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer, and he hasn’t been back in Washington to serve in the Senate at all in 2018. We learned on Monday that McCain was in stable condition at the Mayo Clinic in the Valley after undergoing surgery to treat an intestinal infection related to diverticulitis.

McCain has also been one of President Trump’s favorite targets, first because McCain wasn’t shy about criticizing Trump during the 2016 campaign and then because the senator eliminated Trump’s hopes of repealing the Affordable Care Act with a simple thumbs-down.

Tonight, PBS’ Frontline looks at the senator’s career in “McCain.” It airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on Arizona PBS.
