An Arizona researcher has developed a standardized computer system for analyzing biological data.

Ramona Walls from the University of Arizona co-authored a recent Nature Ecology and Evolution paper detailing the importance of essential biodiversity variables (EBVs).

“The goal of the paper was really to describe a sort of systematic way of measuring, publishing, sharing and reusing that particular type of data in order to support the goal of EBVs which is to monitor biodiversity worldwide," Walls said.

Currently, there is no standardized way to report EBV data.
