Investigators are checking to see if a series of food tampering cases at valley Target stores were related to one man.

Tuesday was the seventh call out in a string of food tampering cases at local Target retailers.

Employees at the Ahwatukee store on Ray Road told officers 48-year-old David Lohr, Jr. was pouring vinegar and hydrogen peroxide liquids into freezer cases stocked with frozen pizzas, ice cream and meat products.

Combined, the chemicals created a parasitic acid and a smell that evacuated the store.

"It's not something that we would be concerned with the hospitalization of people if they're near it, but it is an irritant," said Rob McDade with Phoenix Fire.

Still, paramedics conducted health screenings for precaution.

"One or two people without having any signs of symptoms did request just a quick evaluation; blood pressure, you know, listen to their lungs sort of thing," McDade confirmed. "[It] turned out nobody needed to be transported."

Phoenix police arrested Lohr on suspicion of adding a harmful substance to food and suspect he was involved in potential tampering cases at six other stores recently between Central Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe and Chandler.

In his initial hearing Wednesday, Lohr pleaded not guilty.
