Kolby Granville listens to public comment on April 12, 2019, from a woman who says she was a former student in his class.

The Tempe City Council will interview replacements for the ousted Kolby Granville.

Residents of Tempe can comment on the three potential replacements for ousted Councilman Kolby Granville this Thursday at 4 p.m. at City Council chambers.

Last week, the council whittled down a field of 49 applicants to the finalists:

  • Don Cassano, a former councilmember.
  • Arlene Chin, an administrator at the ASU Foundation.
  • Shereen Lerner, a professor at Mesa Community College.

The council will vote on the replacement on May 9. The new member will serve until July of 2020, which would have been the end of Granville’s term.

The council removed Granville earlier this month because students at a charter school where he taught alleged Granville made unwanted sexual advances and provided alcohol after they had graduated, but before they turned 21.
