ESports Being Considered By Paris Olympic Bid Committee

If you’ve got a kid headed toward those tween or teen years, you may intimately know the “Let’s Play” phenomenon, where viewers — like your kids — watch people play video games online.

And if you’re thinking, “Oh, well, but that’s probably a niche teen thing,” you’d be wrong. One Let’s Player, Mark Fischbach, is the 29th most subscribed-to channel on YouTube, giving him an estimated net worth of around $8 million. This isn’t babysitting money.

And this is one of the many reasons you should sit up and listen when we talk to our next guest Chester King, the CEO of the British eSports Association. He is behind a push to get eSports into the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Yes, we’re talking video games — but, a certain kind. The idea is being considered by the Paris Olympic bid committee, but what about that little thing called athleticism? I spoke with him more about that and what exactly eSports is.
