Starting January 1, 2020, Arizona's minimum wage is $12 per hour. In Flagstaff, the minimum wage is $13 per hour.

Starting Jan. 1, 2020, the statewide minimum wage will increase to $12 per hour. In Flagstaff, the minimum wage will increase to $13 an hour.

The hikes come after voters approved the Fair Wages and Healthy Families Initiative in 2016. It gradually increased the state’s minimum wage from it’s then $8.05 per hour to $12 by 2020. Starting Jan. 1, 2021, and every year after, the state’s minimum wage will be adjusted based on inflation.

Voters in Flagstaff approved higher wages — starting Jan. 1, 2020, workers there will get a minimum of $13 per hour. It will increase to $15 per hour in 2021 and $15.50 in 2022. After that, Flagstaff’s minimum wage hikes will be tied to inflation.

All employees who earn tips can be paid $3 per hour less as long as tips boost their wages to at least the minimum.

The statewide voter approved proposition also requires nearly all employers to provide paid sick time. Depending on the employer’s size, every worker — whether part or full time — can earn up to 24 or 40 hours per year.
