An office manager from Goodyear is being charged with stealing more than a half-million dollars from a scholarship fund for needy Arizona students.  

Police say 60-year-old Marion Holmes has been indicted in Superior Court on 35 counts of fraud, theft, forgery and other offenses.  She’s accused of stealing at least 529-thousand dollars from the Arizona School Choice Trust, and charges related to unauthorized use of a credit card.

Police began investigating Holmes’ financial dealings, after leaders of the School Choice Trust, contacted them about missing money, last May.

Police spokeswoman Lisa Kutis said Holmes is believed to have stolen the money for personal use. 

The Arizona School Choice Trust helps kids from low-income backgrounds attend private schools.  According to its website, the trust passes out money from three Arizona tax credit scholarship programs.
