VA To Roll Out Scheduling App In 2017

Veterans needing to book a doctor’s appointment at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital may soon be able to schedule it online. The agency should roll out the new system in January.

The move is one of the responses from the agency after internal investigations substantiated allegations that VA hospitals around the country had manipulated wait time data to make it seem like wait times were shorter on paper.

VA officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the system will remove the need for schedulers and increase transparency.

Local VA hospitals are currently in the implementation phase. Officials said vets will still be able to schedule appointments over the phone or in person if they don’t have internet access.
