Arizona Cardinals Coach, Kurt Warner Respond To National Anthem Controversy

Monday night's football game is in Glendale as the Cardinals host the Dallas Cowboys.

But the controversy surrounding President Donald Trump's comments about some NFL players taking a knee for the national anthem isn’t going away.

At a campaign rally in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, Trump said any player that takes a knee during the anthem should be fired.

On the NFL network Sunday, former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner condemned the remarks.

“When I heard the comments, I was so disappointed because I believe the comments are completely contradictory to what the flag represents,” Warner said.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians supports the response from NFL commissioner Roger Goddell, defending the integrity of the players.

“I thought the commissioner had a great statement, and I agree with it," Arians said. "I’ve been in locker rooms for 25 years and some of the most reputable me I know wear that uniform.”
