International electronics manufacturer Benchmark Electronics will open its new corporate headquarters in Tempe. The office will be part of Rio 2100, a multi-use development near the Loop 101 and 202 freeways east of Tempe Marketplace.

Benchmark Electronics' previous headquarters were in Texas and it has 23 location in eight countries, according to a press release from the company.

The electronics and design manufacturer estimates it will add about 500 jobs to the Valley in the next five years. The company expects to break ground on its new headquarters before the end of the year.

The Rio 2100 complex, which also includes retail, hotel and restaurant space, is built on a former landfill.
