Arizona’s newest public utility regulator Justin Olson is being sworn in Monday.

Justin Olson will be taking over the seat formerly head by Doug Little, who resigned after taking a job with the Department of Energy.

Gov. Doug Ducey appointed Olson, a Republican and former state representative from Mesa, to serve the remainder of Little’s term, which goes until the end of 2018.

Olson left the legislature in 2016 to run for Congress but was unsuccessful in clinching the Republican nomination.

He’s now a senior tax analyst at the Apollo Education Group. Olson is entering the Arizona Corporation Commission at a time when tensions are running high between Bob Burns and the rest of the commissioners over alleged dark money campaign contributions from Arizona Public Service in the 2014 election.
