The Federal Aviation Administration is holding the first of several public workshops about new Phoenix flight paths Tuesday evening. This is viewed as a win for the historic neighborhoods that have fought the flight path changes for years.

The changes come after a federal court ruled three years ago the FAA changed Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport flight paths without enough community outreach.

The historic Phoenix neighborhoods of Willo, Encanto, Roosevelt and F.Q. Story fought the flight path changes and eventually joined with the city and FAA to propose a solution.

That solution is re-routing the flights to essentially the same paths west of Sky Harbor before the changes were made in 2014.

That will affect western Phoenix, and the first meeting to hear community input will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Maryvale High School.

The second meeting will be Wednesday in Laveen.
