A federal court ordered the Federal Aviation Administration to change flight paths from Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport after residents in historic neighborhoods complained of noise. Now, those changes have been delayed.

The FAA told the city of Phoenix that proposed changes to the routes going west and south will be pushed back several weeks.

Those old routes are over Laveen and the new routes go over traditional cultural properties according to the local Indian communities.

To make sure the new routes won’t adversely affect those areas, the FAA will continue talking to the tribes before sending planes over them.

The new routes to the north will go as planned by the end of March. The south and west routes should change by the end of May.
