Monsoon storms hit parts of the Valley Tuesday night, and as the possibility of damage persists, so does the threat of scams surrounding storm cleanup.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich advises residents to be careful who they hire, especially workers going door-to-door who could be out to pull a scam.

“Make sure whenever you’re hiring someone for any type of job around your house," Brnovich said. "Check with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors to make sure the contractor has a license. You want to make sure that they’re bonded so, that way, you have recourse if there’s any problems.”

Brnovich recommends getting a written estimate, and to never pay for a repair ahead of time.
