The list of Democratic presidential candidates is already very long and includes Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Those are only four of the Democrats who have said they’re running for the presidential nomination in the hopes of unseating President Donald Trump.

But which of them can actually appeal to independents and at least some Republicans? Is our current polarization so intense that it seems nearly impossible?

Bill Kristol, founder of the recently-dissolved publication the Weekly Standard, and Bill Galston of the Brookings Institution may seem like strange bedfellows, but they were co-chairs of the New Center project to offer an alternative to the left and the right and still make speaking appearances together.

They were recently in Arizona for a conference presented by ASU’s School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership. The conference was titled "Polarization and Civil Disagreement: Confronting America’s Civic Crisis."

They joined The Show to talk about their views.
