Climate change continues to be one of the more contentious issues for policymakers, especially at the federal level. There are some who dispute whether the problem was introduced or, at the very least, exacerbated by humans.

A conference taking place in Los Angeles on Thursday starts with the presumption that climate change is real, and solutions need to be agreed upon. It’s called "Climate Forward: Navigating the Politics of Climate Change," and it's being hosted by the Center for the Political Future at the University of Southern California.

Keynote speakers include former Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

The Show spoke with the center’s director Bob Shrum and its executive director Ali Bissonnette about the goals of the conference.
