There has been discussion about increasing ridership in more populated areas while potentially de-emphasizing long-distance travel.
Amtrak is looking for nearly $3 billion from Congress over the next decade or so to move toward a new collection of trains for its long-distance fleet, and that’s only a fraction of the overall budget costs.
So what is the short-term future of U.S. train travel?
